Elders Update

January 2026

Standing Firm, Moving Forward

As elders of Centerpoint Church, we want to share with you about the season we find ourselves in: a season of change, discernment, and faithfulness, as we seek God’s will for how we minister effectively to our community.

Over recent years, God has used many ministries at Centerpoint to bless families and children. At the same time, some chapters have naturally come to a close.  Discovery Day Camp is no longer operating and Birthday Party Ministries will soon cease.  With them, certain structures and funding streams have also ended. While these changes may feel significant, CenterPoint Church remains vibrant and active. Our core ministries continue and our calling to proclaim Christ has not changed.
At the heart of this season is a renewed commitment to what anchors us.
As we were reminded in Pastor Glenn’s recent teaching, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true… God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17), we are grounded, not in programs, but in God’s Word, which stands forever (Isaiah 40:8) and accomplishes His purpose (Isaiah 55:11).
A Time to Be Watchful and Prepared
We are also mindful of broader cultural and political conversations happening in our nation. Recent government proposals could, if enacted, limit how churches operate or even how the Word of God may be preached.  These developments cause us concern—not fear, but sober attentiveness.

Elder Don reminded us recently how Billy Graham has exhorted the Church, now is the time to “walk closely with God, fortify ourselves with Scripture, commit to prayer, and meditate deeply on Christ, so that we are ready to stand faithfully when challenged”.  This aligns with scripture: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).
How We Can Respond
This is not a time for passivity, but for faithful action.

1. Pray intentionally:
Pray for our leaders, our pastors, our ministries, and for wisdom as we discern next steps. Pray for courage and clarity in the Church across Canada.

2. Serve faithfully:
Ministry does not happen through programs alone—it happens through people. We invite you to consider where you might volunteer, encourage, or support others within the church. Your time and gifts matter deeply.

3. Speak graciously and courageously:
We encourage you to engage respectfully with your elected officials. Our pastor has provided attachments that you may use as a starting point to express your concerns and convictions thoughtfully and prayerfully to your elected officials. Scripture calls us to be both salt and light for all to see (Matthew 5:13-16).
Standing Together
The Church has always flourished, not because circumstances were easy, but because Christ is faithful. As Romans 3:4 reminds us, “Let God be true, though everyone else a liar.”  We stand on that truth together.

Thank you for walking with us, praying with us, and standing with us in this season. May we remain grounded in God’s Word, united in love, and bold in faith.

Yours in Christ,
The elders of Centerpoint Church
