A LETTER FROM THE BOARD

Re: OUR YEAR END MEMBERSHIP MEETING

November 28, 2020

Thank you for your continued support of our church ministries. Like most areas of our world, our church ministries have been greatly impacted by the COVID pandemic. Our staff has done an admirable job of adjusting to the changes that have come, often with very little notice. We also recognize that none of the programs or services we run are possible without the continued support of our membership and congregation. God has blessed us and we hope to continue to be used as His representatives in our community.

Considering the restrictions put in place in Manitoba currently, the board has made the decision to cease all in person ministries including Sunday services, youth and DDC programing. While this is not a decision we wanted to make, it is one that is necessary considering the current situation. We ask that you continue to be in prayer for not only our church, but the state of the pandemic as a whole. Continue to pray for both our church leadership as well as our governmental leadership as they make very difficult decisions.

While we are not able to meet in person, we continue to focus on virtual, online services. We have been very blessed by the abilities and service of staff and numerous volunteers that have allowed us to put out a well edited service every Sunday. Additionally, we have been able to channel these skills into other projects such as our Christmas movie drama.  The final product is quite spectacular and something we can all take pride in.  We have a real opportunity to reach out to our community and further in a Kingdom-building exercise.  The launch of this video is currently scheduled for December 13th and we ask that you continue to pray that God can use our efforts to spread the good news of Christmas in our community.

In addition to the Christmas play, we continue to work towards creative and innovative ways of continuing to minister to our church and the Discovery Day Camp families. Please continue to be in prayer for our staff as they lead these new initiatives.
Due to Code Red restrictions our fall meeting will be held virtually on December 9th at 7pm via Zoom.  Invitations to complete online voting will be sent out to members ahead of this meeting to allow for as much engagement as possible. Additionally, invitations to the meeting will be emailed to our membership. Please save this date as it is more important than ever to virtually attend as we have some exciting new initiatives, new members to celebrate, and a new budget to pass. Additionally, the board is excited to put forth the nomination of Don Pickel to the Elder’s Board. Don has served previously on the board, as well as served as a missionary in Cuba and has filled in on Sunday mornings in preaching.

One other major thing that we are focusing on is how to remain in meaningful contact with each other during these restrictions.  We are considering developing a survey to find both a platform and frequency that benefits our Church family’s needs.  We invite you to contact any of us to help us understand how to best meet your needs in this pandemic.
We will continue to monitor things regularly and will work towards reopening as soon as we feel it is safe and wise to do so.  Please extend your leadership grace as there are so many challenges and us apart as we show kindness and love to others reflecting the very essence of Jesus that lives within each of us.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. Please continue to pray for our Pastors, staff, and leaders as they minister to Centerpoint during these very challenging times.

In Him who we all serve,
Your Elders
